Finally, a photo of my Third Uniform Lavi cosplay that I made for Saboten-Con 2010. It took a long time to finish and caused me a lot of stress, but I think it was worth it in the end!

I'm really happy to have been able to do a photo shoot with the awesome *andy-rak! I was going to wait to post this until I had more pictures of the costume, but it's too cool to just be sitting in some folder in my computer any longer.

Thank you!! I'm glad you like it!

Are you talking about the metal cross thing?
You can't see mine very well in this picture, but there are several other photos in my gallery with better views of the cross, if you're interested. This one is the most clear shot of it (although it is upside down): [link]

I made it out of layers of craft foam and fabric paint.
I found a base design of the cross on DA, printed it out, traced around each "layer" from the flowery center down, cut the shapes out of craft foam, and then hot-glued them all together. I then began painting layers of fabric paint on top. Fabric paint will seal and harden the foam, but also keep it flexible and prevent cracking/chipping(unlike other types of paint). After the silver was applied I "weathered" it by drybrushing some black paint on top. Then I wrote on all of the letters and symbols with a fine-tip sharpie, attached the bumpy things, and glued it to the rest of the patch. It might seem a lot of work from that long explanation, but it was really quite easy! I hope that was helpful~

Thank you soo much! This really helped a lot!
Your cosplays are already cool enough, but that you are also a cosplayer who helps other makes you even cooler :D Not everybody helps others so much out like you
I just wanted to make it as good as possible my CosplayGroup (Lina-Lee, Yuu, Allen-kun)and I are also going to take part on a contest XD
So thank you very much again :D

Great!
Ahaha, back in the day (like four years ago) I would just sit on Gaiaonline's cosplay board and help find links and tutorials for people for like three hours a day. I know what it's like to be in a tight spot with a costume, where you're wracking your brain going "But... HOW?!" about the silly anime-physics of one thing or another. I love discussing craftsmanship with other people, especially ones who love a particular character as much as I do and want to bring them to life as well. I want to see people make good costumes that they are proud of, and if I can help point someone in the right direction then that's AWESOME!
That's super cool that you have a whole group. Good luck with your contest! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. :)

Thank you very much - thats very kind and I might come back to this :D
And you are totally right: I mean the most exiting thing in creating a cosplay are the probs: 'Till now I always had the most fun in building e.g. my "little/big" hammer or Renos EMR while the costumes (the cloth) itselves sometimes just have driven me crazy XD (I am still not that good with the machines @_@)
(Please do not wonder - I moved my account today XD)

Amazing cosplay. Very detailed :)
If you don't mind me asking a question, how did you made the pants? :3

Thank you! Yeah, wow, there was a lot of detail on this outfit! XD

First, I'll ask you to look at this picture, as it shows a better view of the pants: [link]
The pants are the same white ones that I used for Lavi's first uniform with what is essentially a pair of chaps pulled over them (the gray stitched part on top is also a part of the chaps). The chaps are basically skinny jeans with more added detail. I sewed pleather strips down the front and back, leaving a small gap in the stitching for the "belt" piece that wraps around the top to slide under. That belt looks like it buttons, but I actually made it connect with velcro and it really does hold the chaps up. The thing on the side with the button and rectangular metal bit is purely for decoration and I still can't figure out the purpose of it. I think I stitched it into the seams where the gray and black pieces meet, and then hand sewed to down so it would stay in place.

Sorry if that was confusing! I hope you got at least something from it. If you need clarification on anything, just ask. OTL
Are you asking because you want to make the uniform too?

So the white pants and the chaps are not connected? I mean, not sewed together? :)

No no, it's not. Thanks for the picture you linked, I understood the explanations really well according to how you made it :) Thankyou very much for this details. Really, i'm really grateful for them. Yes, I want to make the uniform too. Actually, this Lavi costume will be my first ever cosplay :)
